About the questions
What is the difference between est-ce que, inversion, and informal questions?
Est-ce que introduces a question while keeping ordinary statement word order. Inversion places the verb before a subject pronoun and joins them with a hyphen. In familiar conversation, a statement can become a question through intonation. See French question forms.
Why are there spaces before French question marks?
Standard French typography places a space before the question mark. The examples retain this convention.
Does the audio pronounce the whole question?
Yes. Each play button is linked to a recording of the complete French sentence beside it, using the same female voice as the other French Course lists.
What is free?
The first 100 questions, including their translations and pronunciation buttons. The remaining 900 questions require an active French Course membership.
Are these frequency ranked?
No. The list is organised for learning, with 50 questions in each of the 20 sections. Real-life usage varies by setting and register.
